Freelance reporter Asad Hashim wins the 2018 Agence France-Presse Kate Webb Prize for his coverage of the plight of ethnic Pashtuns and blasphemy issues in his native Pakistan.

Patrice Monti, currently Deputy Director of Sales & Marketing for Agence France-Presse will replace Stéphane Marcovitch from December 1st.

The 25th Bayeux-Calvados War Correspondents Prize event singled out two AFP photojournalists. Mahmud Hams received the first prize in the Photo category while Juan Barreto is awarded with the third prize.

The easily accessible platform which draws on the resources of the news agencies AFP, DPA and ANSA, has been supplying videos, images, texts and graphic content about the European Union for 12 months.

From September 1 to 16 the international photo festival Visa Pour l’Image will pay tribute to AFP photographers in Africa with exhibitions featuring the work of John Wessels in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Luis Tato’s coverage of the Kenyan elections and an evening screening of Mohamed Abdiwahab’s coverage of Somalia. Also featured will be Brendan Smialowski’s coverage of the White House, and there will be a tribute to Shah Marai who was killed in an attack in Kabul last April.
